• PVD COATING

PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) is characterized by high resistance and durability of colours and design. Application procedure: the basic metal is bombarded by the particles of future coating. The coating material penetrates the upper layer of the case material. PVD coating is practical: titanium nitride (the base), does not significantly differ from gold, so when the “gold” coating wears off, the titanium nitride layer becomes visible rather than the base (such as steel)..

  • AUTOMATIC WATCHES

Watches with automatic mechanism require no manual rewinding while they are on the wrist. The wrist move propels the rotor looking like a section with an offset center of gravity. It turns around thus rewinding the spring of the watch mechanism by means of the system of special gear wheels. The power reserve of the fully winded watch is normally 40-46 hours.

  • APERTURE

A small opening (window) in the clock face to indicate date, weekday etc.

  • BEZEL

The ring on the exterior of the watch case around the clock face. In some models the bezel is rotatable. The still bezel may serve as decoration. In some cases special marks are applied on it: second and tachometric scales. Pivotal bezel may be used to fix or determine the time of a certain event. It is also a specific feature of divers’ watches.

  • THE SECOND TIME ZONE

The watches with the second time zone function have two watch mechanisms which are used to determine the time in two different time zones, for example during travelling.

  • WATER RESISTANCE

The watch case feature to prevent penetration of water into the watch mechanism. Water resistance grade is normally established in meters or atmospheres. 10 meters diving corresponds to pressure increase by one atmosphere. Before the watch contacts water, it is recommended to read the relevant section of the watch passport.

  • HEAT RESISTANCE STEEL

Solid, reliable stainless steel which requires no plating. It may be matte, polished or be a combination of various elements..

  • GADROONING

The method of watch face treatment including application of lined pattern with the help of an engraver.

  • WATCH WINDING STEM

The watch case component part used to rewind the watch and set up time and date.

  • CASEBACK

The case back protects the watch mechanism. As a rule, it latches, however screw cap is established in the models with high water resistance. Important information about the watch including the model number and water resistance grade is applied on the case back.

  • SNAP

Fixture for watch band. L’Duchen snap is made as a clip and decorated with the brand logo.

  • LUNAR PHASE INDICATOR

The watch face with 29 days grading and rotating indicator with the Moon image. At any time the indicator shows the current Lunar phase.

  • QUARTZ MECHANISM

The energy source for the quartz mechanism operation is the battery. Quartz watches are characterized by high accuracy (deviation from the accurate movement is only several seconds per month). Quartz watches require no rewinding.

  • KEEPER

Leather loops on the leather watch band which keep the end of the watchband in place.

  • COMBINED COATING COLOUR

Coating is applied over certain watch elements (wristlet loops etc.), which alternate with steel coating free elements.

  • WATCH CASE

It is the core element of the watch to which the wristlet or the watch band is fixed. There is a great variety of case forms and materials..

  • MINERAL GLASS

    Durable, scratch resistant watch glass.

  • WATCH STRAP

The watch element keeping the model on the wrist. It is made of various materials. All L’Duchen watch bands are made of genuine leather, smooth or with various prints.

  • SAPPHIRE GLASS

Sapphire glass is made of synthetic sapphire and characterized by high transparency and scratch resistance. Anti-reflection coating is applied on sapphire glass in L’Duchen watches.

  • CHRONOGRAPH

The watch shows time and function as stopwatch.

  • DIAL

The dial is above the watch mechanism and can add individuality to your watch..

  • PIN

Metal telescopic pin attaches the watch band to the watch case. The pin is put into the special ports in the case elements.
