A very rare18K pink gold two train openface verge pocket watch with polychrome enamel and varicoloured gold automaton scene, made in 18th century is a big success for a collector whose name wasn't disclosed.
Gilt-finished two train movement, small gilt-finished verge movement for the watch with chain fusée, engraved and pierced balance cock, small eccentric white enamel dial, Arabic numerals, all above a black and blue enamel and applied varicoloured gold automaton scene depicting a lady sitting on a swing, swaying back and forth when pushed by a standing gentleman, framed by two fountains with realistically flowing water, plain circular case, automaton activated by a sliding lever in the band.
The master watchmaker Louis Duchêne (1730-1804) of Geneva was renowned for an excellent manufacturing of finely enamelled form watches and watches with all conceivable complications such as minute repeating, Petite et Grande Sonnerie, date, jump hours, but were probably best known for their extraordinary automata watches which they also supplied to China.
L'Duchen brand is keeping to centuries-old traditions of  Louis Duchêne watchmaker. Brand's designers are using traditional dial decoration techniques in contemporary watches such as guilloche pattern and hand-made paintings, that are preserving the brand's own special character.
